On the Monday, April 27 episode of her Humble Brag With Crystal and Cynthia podcast, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 43, revealed she had just been at her doctor’s office.
“My blood pressure was really high this week,” she said, per People.
She said her blood pressure was 160/110 mmHg. The American Heart Association puts the range of a healthy average for adults at 120/80.
“I was like, ‘OK, so we’re in the realm of stroke now,’ ” she said. “They call it the silent killer.”
She explained that what brought her to the doctor in the first place was a feeling of pressure in her chest. It turns out that was also an early warning sign of a potential stroke.
“He’s like, ‘Your heart rate is very low,’” she explained. “It’s very low. He’s like, ‘That pressure is your heart working too hard.’ It’s real. So we did my EKG and he said my heart was slightly enlarged.”

Her doctor explained that 80 percent of her condition is likely hereditary — her family has a history of hypertension — and increased her medication.
However, she said the other 20 percent is something she can control with tweaks to her lifestyle.
Minkoff said her doctor told her she’s simply not exercising enough. She needs to lift weights because women tend to lose muscle quickly as they age, he explained, and make sure she’s getting in five hours of cardio workouts a week.
“He said, ‘You’re 43. Hiking is not enough for you to make your heart work,’” she said. “He’s like, ‘You need to get to a point where it becomes a mental thing for you.’ I need to feel like I should exercise or else I’m not feeling mentally healthy.”
Minkoff said the condition was explained to her as something that she could, in theory, put off into her 50s, but motivation for a lifestyle change will be much more difficult at that time.
“You need to start now,” she said her doctor told her, “or you’re going to really suffer in your 60s.”
