Kylie Minogue is opening up about a private health struggle she kept hidden from fans for years.
According to The Guardian in a Tuesday, May 19, report, the Australian pop icon, 57, reveals in her upcoming Netflix documentary Kylie that she was diagnosed with cancer for a second time in early 2021 — nearly two decades after her highly publicized breast cancer battle.
“My second cancer diagnosis was in early 2021,” Minogue says in the three-part docuseries, per the outlet. “I was able to keep that to myself … Not like the first time.”
The “Padam Padam” singer explained that she struggled emotionally while privately undergoing treatment.
“I don’t feel obliged to tell the world, and actually, I just couldn’t at the time because I was just a shell of a person,” Minogue admits in the documentary.

Minogue first battled breast cancer in 2005 and that bout forced her to postpone her Showgirl: Greatest Hits World Tour. She was declared cancer-free the following year.
This time, however, she chose to keep the diagnosis private while simultaneously enjoying a major career resurgence fueled by her viral hit “Padam Padam.”
“There will be someone out there who will benefit from a gentle reminder to do their check-ups,” the Grammy winner says in the documentary, noting that early detection “was very helpful.”
Today, Minogue says she’s healthy again — and more passionate about music than ever. “Who knows what’s around the corner, but pop music nurtures me,” she said.
