Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston Reveals Voluntary Plastic Surgery Amid Breast Cancer Battle
Former Bachelorette star Katie Thurston is being transparent about going under the knife, admitting to getting liposuction on her chin amid her ongoing battle with breast cancer.
The reality TV star, 35, revealed the update herself in an Instagram Story shared on Tuesday, September 8.
“After so many required medical surgeries, I decided to do one for myself,” she captioned a photo showing her recovering in a bed with medical bandages wrapped around her head.
Beside her lay her dog, Charlie, who she later referred to as her “healer,” while she enjoyed an iced beverage.
“And I’m all about transparency. Never had Botox. Never had filler. But today I did in fact have chin lipo,” she added in her caption.
In another Story, the FBOY Island alum said she would answer questions from fans about her surgery “when I can,” adding that, “for now, I’m down for the count.”
On Wednesday, September 9, Thurston shared a new Story with another update on her recovery.
“Breakfast at 6:40AM because I can’t open my mouth much wider, swallowing sucks, and I want to take pain meds but not on an empty stomach,” she captioned a photo of her morning snack, consisting of Ritz crackers and a breakfast shake.
Thurston’s liposuction comes amid her ongoing battle with breast cancer.
She first revealed her diagnosis in February 2025, after noticing a lump on her breast in November 2024. Thurston later found out the disease metastasized to her liver, leading to a stage 4 diagnosis.
“I know stage 4 can sound very scary and it can be,” she said in an Instagram video March 28, 2025. “But given that I am triple-positive and the spots on my liver are fairly small and detected early, I feel very optimistic on my outcome.”
In April, Thurston underwent a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery.
Later, in June, she shared there was “no evidence of disease” in her liver — though, in July, she said her enzymes remained elevated ahead of a liver biopsy later that month.
