OK Foods has recalled nearly 1 million pounds of breaded chicken, found to contain traces of “extraneous materials” including metals. So if this tasty treat is your guilty pleasure, it’s time to throw it out.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Services claims that the affected batches went through production between Dec. 19, 2016 and Mar. 7, 2017. The ready-made food is sold at select Walmart stores and other popular retailers nationwide.

According to a statement by the USDA, the recall was issued after OK Foods received five consumer complaints of metals in their chicken products, claims which were confirmed by FSIS inspection personnel. After an internal investigation, the firm asserted that product contamination was likely the result of contact with a metal conveyor belt.

The statement continued: “FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.”

Rest assured, the FSIS is implementing measures to take the product off the market and keep consumers safe.

Although no adverse affects to consuming the chicken have been reported, the USDA recommends discarding any of the affected products that you may have in your refrigerator or freezer. There’s no need to risk getting sick or developing a future complication by consuming metals–because we’re pretty positive that can’t be healthy.

To answer any questions about the recall, the USDA recommends using their “Ask Karen” tool, which will connect you to a virtual FSIS representative who is available to chat 24 hours a day on AskKaren.gov. The site also features lots of helpful information about all food safety issues, so make sure to take a look if you have any concerns.
