Demi Moore recently sparked concern after appearing noticeably slender at the Cannes Film Festival — however, just a year ago, she reflected on learning to separate her appearance from her self-worth.
“I have a greater appreciation for all that my body has been through that brought me to now,” the Substance star, 63, told People in 2025.
Moore admitted she still experiences moments of insecurity while looking in the mirror, but said those feelings no longer hold weight.
“It doesn’t define my value or who I am,” she explained to the outlet.

Moore — who shares daughters Rumer Willis, 37, Scout Willis, 34, and Tallulah Willis, 32, with ex-husband Bruce Willis — has also spoken candidly about the “torment” she once put herself through while trying to meet Hollywood beauty standards.
“The perfect example is when I was told to lose weight multiple times,” she told Elle in a November 2024 sitdown, adding that a producer once “pulled [her] aside.”
“It was very embarrassing and humiliating,” she recalled at the time. “But that’s just one thing. How I internalized it and how it moved me to a place of such torture and harshness against myself, of real extreme behaviors, and that I placed almost all the value of who I was on my body being a certain way — that’s on me.”

Still, the Ghost actress says she’s come away from those ugly experiences a lot stronger. “The thing is, I do have love for my body,” Moore told the outlet, “but it’s more about appreciation — I can really appreciate all that my body does for me now, not just how it looks.”
After Moore appeared at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday, May 15, some fans expressed concern over her slender frame as she walked the opening ceremony red carpet in a custom Jacquemus gown.
