Jennifer Lopez Vows to Wear Iconic Green Versace Dress Again at 70: ‘It’s Gonna Look Good’

Jennifer Lopez is already planning to make fashion history again — in 2040.

While promoting her upcoming film Office Romance, the superstar, 56, looked back on one of the most unforgettable fashion moments of all time: the plunging green Versace “jungle dress” she famously wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards.

The sheer and plunging outfit famously inspired the creation of Google Images back in 2000.

More than two decades later, Lopez says the iconic gown is still very much part of her life, and she’s already planning its next big appearance.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on the Wednesday, May 27, Lopez was asked about the outfit because actress Mika Abdalla recently wore a replica of the Versace dress in Prime Video’s hit new romance series Off Campus.

“I have both dresses. If anybody remembers, I wore the [original] one to the Grammys [in 2000] and then about five years ago, we did the 20th anniversary, and I have that dress,” the “On the Floor” singer recalled. “[Donatella Versace] made a brand new dress for me. So I have both of them.”

When Kimmel cheekily suggested she would have to wear a version of the dress every 20 years, Lopez got to her feet to cheers from the crowd and said: “I’m gonna make a promise right now. I’m gonna wear it in 20 years. And it’s gonna look good. You’re not gonna hate it.”

Despite the dress’s legendary status today, Lopez once revealed that her stylist initially encouraged her not to wear it because several other celebrities had already been photographed in the design.

“It was a dress that other people had worn already. My stylist was like, ‘Please don’t wear it. Somebody else has worn it.’ I was like, ‘Well, you bought it, and it looks the best, so I’m going to wear it.’ And so I did,” the Wedding Planner star told Vogue in February 2024:
