It has been three months since Kate shared her health diagnosis with the world. Since then, many have been wondering when the princess would return to her royal duties.

And on Saturday, the world saw Kate for the first time in months, side by side with her family. Her return came after being away from the public eye since Christmas 2023. The Princess of Wales has attended every Trooping the Colour event since she married Prince William in 2011, except for in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.

After recent events and her announcement publicizing her cancer treatment, many were worried this may be the first year she skipped the event. Under normal circumstances, Kate would have been present at the rehearsal for Trooping the Colour, but when she wasn’t there, there was worry amongst royal fans.

Fans of the royal family got a peek of the Princess of Wales in Saturday’s ceremony, to which she wore a white Jenny Packham dress and a Philip Treacy hat. Kate confirmed that she would be in attendance for the King’s “birthday parade” in an Instagram post on Friday.

And with her most recent appearance in the public eye, fans of the royals noticed something new: Kate was positioned next to her father-in-law, King Charles, at the event. It is known that nothing the royals do is an accident, so standing next to the king is most likely a statement of unity and support, as he too is undergoing treatment for cancer as of publication.

Kate Middleton shared an update on her cancer treatment

Along with the announcement that she would be present at the event, the princess shared an update on her health journey. In her Instagram post, Kate stated, “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.” She also explained that her treatment will continue for “a few more months.”

Kate first shared news of her cancer back in March, when she shared a rare video message with the world. The announcement came after weeks of speculation about her health, the status of her marriage and additionally blown-up claims. In the video, Kate shared that after her planned abdominal surgery in January, “Tests after the operation found cancer had been present.” The princess shared in the statement, released by the palace, that she was in the early stages of treatment at the time.

The princess ended her recent message on Instagram, sharing, “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

Kate has been more active in the public as she recently snapped a photo of Prince William with their children, captioning it, “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day 💕 G, C & L.” It is clear the princess has intentions of slowly returning to the public eye.

Luckily for royal fans, it seems that we may be seeing much more of the Princess of Wales, according to the message she shared. Kate noted that while knowing she is “not out of the woods yet,” she does “hope to join a few public engagements over the summer.”
