Keep reading to learn more about honey butter toast and a viral TikTok recipe that’s guaranteed to satisfy your sugar cravings!

The ingredients in honey butter toast

Making honey butter toast involves smearing a mixture of butter, brown sugar, honey and salt onto slices of bread before baking. Once caramelized and toasty, the bread is served with ice cream, fruit, caramel sauce or any toppings of your choice. Honey butter toast was popularized in recent years by London’s Arôme Bakery — and maintains its viral status with recipes constantly circulating online. Safe to say that it’s the perfect treat to indulge your sweet tooth!

Best type of bread for honey butter toast

When making this treat, breads like brioche, challah or Japanese milk bread (if you can get your hands on it) work best. These breads are made with milk, eggs and/or butter, so you’ll get a richer flavor in the toast. Slicing the bread thick also allows it to absorb plenty of the honey butter and toppings — creating a hearty and flavorful treat.

How to make honey butter toast

For mouthwatering honey butter toast, we love this recipe from TikToker @TheChefMine. She serves the warm toast with homemade vanilla whipped cream, which you can find in the recipe, along with salted caramel sauce. Think of it as French toast but better since you can enjoy it for dessert! (For a similar dish, try this recipe for Croissant Waffles, aka “croffles”.)

Honey butter toast 🍯🧈 Recipe below 👇🏽 Ingredients Honey butter toast: 4 thick slices of brioche bread 6 tbs/80g softened unsalted butter ¼ cup light brown sugar 2 tbs honey Pinch of salt Vanilla cream (optional): ½ cup cold heavy cream 1 tbs vanilla bean paste (try to get this over vanilla extract. It’ll make a huge difference) 1 tbs powdered sugar Steps: 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C/356°F. 2. Trim the crusts of your brioche slices and set them aside. 3. In a small bowl combine the butter and brown sugar with a spatula. 4. Add salt and honey and mix. 5. Spread the butter mixture evenly over all the faces of the slices of bread- the top, bottom and sides. 6. Place on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and gently flip each piece of bread. 7. Return to the oven for 8 more minutes. 8. Take the toast out and let them sit for about 2 minutes without touching them before moving them to a cooling rack. They will be very hot and soft, but they’ll harden as they cool. 9. Let them sit on the cooling rack for about 8-10 minutes, then enjoy. 10. If making the whipped cream, mix the cold heavy cream, vanilla bean paste and powdered sugar in a bowl. You can add more sugar if you want, but I don’t recommend making it very sweet as it may overpower the toast. 11. Whip until stiff peaks form then top your toast with it. *Recipe for the salted caramel sauce is linked below 👇🏽* @Yasmine #honeybuttertoast #crispytoast #frenchtoast #dessertrecipe #easydessert #easyrecipe

Ingredients:

Honey butter toast:

  • 4 thick slices of brioche or other rich bread
  • 6 Tbs. unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbs. honey
  • Pinch of salt

Vanilla whipped cream (optional):

  • ½ cup heavy cream, cold
  • 1 Tbs. vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1 Tbs. powdered sugar

Directions:

  • Yield: 4 servings
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Remove crusts from bread slices and set aside.
  2. In small bowl, mix together butter and brown sugar using spatula. Add salt and honey and continue mixing. Spread butter mixture evenly over all sides of bread slices. Place butter-coated bread on baking sheet, leaving plenty of space between each slice.
  3. Bake 10 minutes. Carefully flip slices and bake an additional 8 minutes. Remove toast from oven and let sit about 2 minutes without touching. Transfer to cooling rack to sit 8 to 10 minutes. Toast will be very hot and soft, but it’ll harden as it cools.
  4. For whipped cream: Pour heavy cream, vanilla bean paste and powdered sugar into bowl. Whip by hand or using electric mixer until stiff peaks form, about 6 to 8 minutes. (Note: Feel free to add more sugar if you wish, but avoid making it too sweet as it may overpower the toast.)
  5. Serve each slice of toast with dollop of whipped cream and any other toppings. Enjoy!
