Unlike Kate, Meghan Markle Probably Won’t Have a Maid of Honor

It’s almost time for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly-anticipated royal wedding — and fans are speculating what exactly the big day will entail. A new report claims the Suits alum will not have a maid of honor that day — or any bridesmaids at all for that matter!

“[Kate Middleton] may have had her younger sister, Pippa Middleton, as her bridesmaid — but Pippa’s role was the exception, not the rule. Royal weddings rarely feature bridesmaids,” said The New York Times. “So while you can expect to see an adorable clutch of preschool-age boys and flower girls processing down the aisle, it’s extremely unlikely that the wedding party will also include any 30-something women clad in identical, and probably unflattering, dresses. The palace has not commented on the subject.”

Perhaps the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge could fill the role, considering she’s already planning an epic bachelorette party for her future sister-in-law. “Kate is determined to make it an unforgettable occasion,” a source previously revealed, adding “there will be no expense spared” that weekend. “She wants Meghan to be reminiscing about it for years to come.” Kate would technically be called a “matron of honor” since she’s already married — so maybe that leaves room for a maid, too!

Prince Harry and his bride-to-be were first rumored to be dating in 2016, and he popped the question in November. The couple will wed on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. “Windsor is a very special place for Prince Harry, and he and Ms. Markle have regularly spent time there during the last year,” said a spokesperson. “They are delighted that the beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle will be where they begin their lives as a married couple.”
