Kaia Gerber Admits She Wishes She Looked Like Supermodel Mom Cindy Crawford: ‘I’m Not Even Close’

Kaia Gerber has drawn comparisons to her supermodel mom, Cindy Crawford, throughout her press tour for The Shards. However, the 24-year-old actress is not convinced.

“It’s an honor when people tell me I look like my mom. I wish I did,” Gerber told Yahoo Entertainment on Tuesday, August 4. “I think, even on my best days, I’m not even close. But like, it means so much to me. I think she’s just the most beautiful woman, inside and out.”

“So if there’s any way that I remind anyone of her, it’s just, like, the largest compliment,” she added.

Kaia — whom Crawford, 60, shares with husband Rande Gerber, along with brother Presley — followed in her mother’s footsteps with modeling. Since landing her first modeling gig at age 10, Kaia has appeared on the covers of Vogue Paris, Teen Vogue, and American Vogue. She’s also walked runways at Paris, New York and Milan Fashion Week, and been the face of luxury brands like YSL Beauty and Chanel.

“You are so not a stage mom,” she told Crawford during a May 2025 appearance on Today. “I kind of wish you were a little bit more, but she’s so not a stage mom at all, because she’s had her own life experiences, and she has never lived vicariously through us.”

The Sister Cities actress is returning to the small screen in FX’s The Shards, which premiered August 5. Kaia stars alongside Homer Gere, Wes Bentley and more in the teen thriller series, created by Ryan Murphy.
