With her children growing up before her eyes, Joanna Gaines is making the most of their time together.
The former Fixer Upper star, 48, shared a glimpse of a mother-daughter getaway on Instagram Tuesday, August 18, posting a video of herself alongside daughters Ella and Emmie as they explored a quaint town together, skipping along cobblestone streets and running through open fields.
“Finally got to the English countryside with my girls✨,” Joanna captioned the post. “It was all such a dream 🥹.”
All three share the same long, wavy brunette hair, as they wander the town side by side, sampling sweet treats, picking flowers and taking in the scenic views.
Joanna and husband Chip Gaines share five children: In addition to daughters Ella, 19, and Emmie, 16, the couple are parents to three sons: Drake, 21, Duke, 18, and Crew, 8.

The overseas trip comes on the heels of an emotional milestone for the family. As First For Women previously reported, two days earlier, Joanna opened up about the range of feelings that come with sending her kids off to college, sharing a carousel of photos on Instagram, as Drake headed into his senior year and Ella began her second year.

“Thinking of all the parents sending their kids off to college this season,” she wrote on social media. “I’ve been on that side of move-in day, so I know the wide range of emotions well.” Alongside a photo of herself embracing one of her children, she added, “Holding on a little tighter before letting go.”
Joanna didn’t shy away from the bittersweet side of watching her kids grow up, writing that she was “feeling proud of who they’re becoming and wishing time would slow down.” Still, she found the silver lining, calling it “one of the greatest gifts of being a parent” to watch her children grow beyond her.
Between the college send-offs and now a treasured trip with her girls, Joanna seems to be savoring every version of motherhood this season — letting go in one moment, and holding on tightly in the next.
