On the Thursday, April 23 episode of Today’s The Parent Chat podcast, the meteorologist, 44, compared her life at home and work to the Apple TV series Severance, in which characters go to work and lose all memory of their personal lives for the duration of their shift.
“I feel like I have my life that I love. I love my job. I love coming to work. I’m not thinking about my kids,” Dylan explained to Not Skinny But Not Fat host Amanda Hirsch, who was her guest. “And then I go home, and I love being a mom. I love being with the kids, and I’m not really thinking about work. It’s like I’m living two different lives, but they’re all cohesive.”

Dreyer shares sons Calvin, 9, Oliver, 6 and Russell, 4, with her estranged husband, Brian Fichera. She explained that she obviously loves the time she gets to spend at home with her kids, but tried to take the stigma off of parents who may feel guilty for also enjoying the moments when she’s not having to play mom.
“I talk about my kids a lot on the show, but I really enjoy when I’m not with them as much as I enjoy being with them,” she explained.
Overall, she and Hirsch agreed that it’s possible to shift gears between having a career, personal life and parenting life indefinitely — it’s simply a matter of being able snap back into parenting mode when it’s time to handle an issue with their kids.
Hirsch offered an example of being at a very chic gala and then having to come home, still dressed up, only to clean up her child’s vomit.
“It brings you right back down,” Hirsch, 37, joked. “You don’t get a moment, you know?”
