‘Cobra Kai’ season 6, part 2 recap: What happened before the cliffhanger?
Season 6 revolved around the karate world championship, the Sekai Taikai, led by Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto). But part 2 had a surprise twist with the (Spoiler Alert!) shocking death of Kwon. The fate of the tournament was also left in question.
What to expect in ‘Cobra Kai’ season 6, part 3: plot, characters and more
As for what to expect on February 13, the Netflix synopsis offers some insight: “After a startling result in the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their pasts while facing an uncertain future both on and off the mat. Almost 40 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it’s all been leading to this. Granted one final chance to finish the Sekai Taikai, Daniel, Johnny and the team lay it all on the line in the ultimate championship showdown.”
The first eight minutes of part 3 sees the burial of Kwon after his surprising death and everyone dealing with the fallout once they arrive back home. One of the show’s co-creators, Josh Heald, commented on the distressing finale.
“We are now in the aftermath of everyone coming back home,” Heald shared. “We wanted to explore everybody’s headspace—the people who had all their hopes and dreams tied up with success at the Sekai Taikai; the people who had more of an emotional reason to be there, like Daniel [Ralph Macchio]; the people who have everything riding on it for the wrong reasons, like Silver; and people like Johnny [William Zabka] who really felt like, ‘This is the thing I have to accomplish to move on with my life.’”
