Hate Cleaning Your Blender? This Trick Will Make It a Total Breeze

Blenders are a handy addition to a kitchen gadget collection, but no matter how much you love whipping up soups and smoothies, you might find yourself using it less and less simply because you dread cleaning it. There’s the sharp blades to worry about, and even dishwashers can struggle to really get all of the nooks and crannies clear. If you’ve been denying yourself those blended treats because you didn’t want to commit to the cleaning process, you’re in luck: There’s a super simple trick to making it shine again in mere seconds!

In fact, you’ll probably kick yourself for not thinking of this easy tip on your own. At least that is how I felt when I stumbled up on the helpful advice on the American Test Kitchen’s Instagram account. All you have to do is add a little soap and warm water to the blender once you’ve finished using it, then give it a whirl to rinse everything off.

Anyone else suddenly reminded of that old adage, “if it had been a snake, it would have bit me”? I actually dug out my poor neglected blender to test the trick out for myself and can happily report that it is as easy and effective as it sounds! 

I actually tried it twice: First with a traditional blender that I used to mix up some pesto for pasta, then with a smaller Magic Bullet ($29.99, Amazon). It obviously seemed like it should work just as well for both in theory, but I had to make sure. Each time, I was able to look back at a perfectly sparkling machine after giving them a few spins with soap and water. 

This experiment almost has me wanting to invest in more blenders to exclusively consume puréed food from now on like a baby (mostly joking, but it is tempting), but at the least, I’ll have no reason to be afraid of cleanup duty the next time I’m craving a smoothie!
