“I really started to notice and appreciate if and when people recognize me, they would usually smile … thinking about something [expletive] stupid I did onscreen,” Faris, 49, told Chelsea Handler during the Thursday, August 20, episode of her Dear Chelsea podcast. “I really started to notice that and absorb that.”
The comedian, 51, then inquired about Faris’ drinking habits, adding, “I know you stopped drinking. Maybe that lit that a little bit.”
“Turns out there’s a correlation between drinking and depression for me for sure,” the Scary Movie star responded. “I had to take a step back to not self-sabotage.”
While she did not reveal exactly when she stopped drinking, Faris also credited hormone patches for making a “huge difference” for her mental health.
After seven seasons, she made the decision to walk away from the series, claiming she “started to lose my focus.”
“I never had a job besides waitressing for over three months before,” she said during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in June. “It was a complicated time.”
